Hello, I’m Dessy.
I am in the middle of writing a book about the life stories of 175 women from the Bible. Each story of these women’s lives is full of anxieties, pressing situations, risks, criticisms, tears, loneliness, guilt, responsibilities that were not asked for, and even more…
But what leaves me speechless is to see that despite everything I have already mentioned, the factor of the mercy and the strength of God, was what always were present in their lives. I am sure that was how they were able to persevere in their particular circumstances.
And God who wasted nothing, always worked the contexts of their conditions, in a way that, although it seemed like a real failure, His true purpose was always fulfilled in them.
But…WHAT IF… many of these women’s lives had taken a different turn? WHAT IF… their stories had not ended the way they did? WHAT IF… that would have happened? Can you imagine?

EVE
WHAT IF… Eve would never have walked alone in the Garden of Eden? or struck up a conversation with a snake? Let’s assume that it never happened…
Eve was created by a perfect God, at a perfect time, in a perfect place, in a perfect way, to have a perfect life, for a perfect purpose. She and her husband had all the beauty of the Garden for themselves and the animals. It was completely understandable that God wanted to create more humans to fill that garden, and that they could live happily there.
Although the Bible doesn’t say that Adam and Eve were intimate in the Garden, that was something that was going to happen anyway, because God created their bodies to love each other, and to procreate other human beings.
God had an exclusive plan for Eve’s life. She was made to transmit her inner and physical beauty to her babies, as she was also the image of her Creator. God had put in her that maternal instinct, which was going to help her reason correctly about what she had to do to raise her children.
In the garden, the spiritual dimension was well intertwined with the physical dimension, which means that if God Himself came to walk with them in the garden, then it would have been very normal for God to send the angels to help Eve to take care of the many children that she was gradually giving birth to.
There was no death, but maybe life’s stages, where things like stopping getting pregnant after giving birth to two or three thousand babies in hundreds of years, it had to be fair. The world’s population would have grown, but not to the point where it is today.
IF SO… Eve, who would still be living today, not looking old of course, would have already found other great modern systems of cooking, making clothes, making some art, new ways to educate her children, and much more; and without a doubt, Adam would have discovered better technology to work the land, build a comfortable house, and have help from the animals to advance the projects he works with many of his sons.
And all of that, I’m sure, would have been very good for God, because it was, He, Himself who put creativity into their minds. God would still be visiting all the humans living around every evening and walking with them. Even the conversation would become more advanced with the centuries, Humans would be enjoying talking with God about like science, math, plants, weather, life from other worlds, and of course, all about His beloved son.
IF THAT… would happen like that, we particularly would never have known the story of Eve, because would be not one, and most likely, we would never have gotten here, because I don’t believe God’s plan was about over-populating the earth. Eden would have remained to this day the perfect world that God created for them, and that would undoubtedly have spread throughout the earth.
If that had been the case, even though Adam and Eve knew God face to face, we would never have known the true heart of God. Because it is in the distress, the suffering, and the difficult times when the real heart of somebody shows.
BUT GOD… even with His broken heart for what had happened, He did not reject what He had already created; He never stops loving those whom He made to His very image. Rather, after Eve’s blunder, He still considered her as an important part of a new plan that He, Himself outlined to never give up, but restore His relationship with His precious human race.
TODAY… I’m so grateful that you and I are part of that amazing plan that God thought when He still had on His hands the animal skins with which He covered His first two children.
EVE’S DAUGHTERS
WHAT IF… Eve never had baby girls, but a lot of baby boys only. To start with, no one else would have reproduced other humans but her. Moreover, she would have been the only female species, and her boys would never have had wives.
The situation between Cain and Abel never have happened, because remember… we are imagining that Eve never had that conversation with the serpent; so, her children never were contaminated with sin, which although it really originated in heaven, but, do not affect the new world that God had made.
Surely the world’s populated been growing slower, as God had designed it in His mind. For generations, men would not be somewhat motivated to learn new things that would help them support their families, because none of them have one. And of course, that wouldn’t have led the world to a gay community because sin hadn’t been propagated.
IF SO… this world would have been from the beginning a totally different way of life than the one that is currently structured in our minds and our culture today. Men would live as independent individuals who would do their own thing, without expecting a wife to do almost everything for them (Of course, there are some exceptions…).
BUT GOD… put the perfect chromosomes in Adam’s body, so that Eve would have as many baby boys and baby girls, as much that was possible for her. That was the way God wanted to fill the earth. Those daughters and those sons grew and even though they were siblings, they became families that God was watching.
So, the daughters of Eve, as their mother, had to accomplish the female function to multiply and fill the earth, that was how God had established from the beginning, but it had to be inside of a family structure.
TODAY… when we ever celebrate a wedding, the birth of a baby, a birthday, family holidays together, or have a home and a family where we can come to eat and rest, after a long day of work, is because we too are part of that family and social structure that God himself established in Eden, and also after Eden. His gift of what a family is, is still in effect today.
